Donald, born in Edmonton, Alberta, received his B.A. in 1961 and his LL.B. in 1962 from the University of Alberta. He has been an active member of the Law Society of Alberta, Canadian Bar Association and Edmonton Bar Association since the early eighties. Through his involvement he has held such roles as President, Alberta Branch, Canadian Bar Association (1980 - 1981) and President, Law Society of Alberta (1989 - 1990).
Donald's active involvement was recognized in 2000 when he was the Edmonton Bar Association's recipient of the Distinguished Service Award. Donald is also involved in the community through his efforts on various fundraising campaigns, steering committees and membership in several local charities and organizations. These include the United Way, Downtown Rotary Club, Alberta Cancer Foundation and Edmonton Art Gallery. Donald is married and a proud father of three children.
