Alan was born in London, England, and later moved to Edmonton, where he received his B. Sc. in 1973 and his LL.B. in 1976 from the University of Alberta. His practice focuses on large commercial financing projects and the drafting of many types of banking documents and precedents. For a number of years, Alan's unique expertise has allowed him to be listed as a leading practitioner in the area of banking and financial services law in the Lexpert Directory. He has also lectured for the Canadian Bar Association and taught and assessed articling students for Alberta Bar Admission Courses.
Alan is a current member and past Director of the Fort Edmonton Historical Foundation, a fundraiser for the Alberta Lung Association and Heart Foundation, and a former community league soccer coach. Alan enjoys cycling and hiking high above the tree line. While his love of the game far surpasses his ability, he enjoys spending time on the golf course. Alan's interests also include art, computers and reading, and he enjoys spending time with his wife and their two sons.
